It’s a knockout!
Firstly, for those of you who have never used a Wii, I will just explain that my ‘Mii’ is me. It’s the little character that replicates, within the game, the moves I make.
I had a boxing match with Mo and it went something like this…..
Round 1
Mo: Jab, jab with the left, uppercut to the body with the right….WHAM!
Babs: Thwump! flat out on the floor…. One….two….three…. gets up to her feet….jab, jab, uppercut….jab, jab…….. (Nothing is happening) “My Mii’s not doing anything”….
Mo: Jab, Jab, WHAM!…..
Babs: “My Mii won’t work!” Jab, jab, uppercut to the……..er…….Bowl of nuts! CRASH! Nuts and sweets fly everywhere! “Oops” “My Mii won’t work” jab, jab…..
Mo (laughing): Jab. jab. WHAM!!!
Babs: Thwump! Flat out again… One…..two….three…..four….. “Why won’t my Mii work?” Gets up…..
Mo: “You can’t be doing it right….WHAM!!!!!!!
Babs: Jab, jab (slowly working her way across the room to the television, in her frustration and attempts at getting in closer to hit this elusive Mii) “I am, look it won’t do anything” Jab, jab…
Mo: Jab…jab…. “Hit me upwards to the body”
Babs: “I AM! Look” Gets low down, arm back ready for a neat ‘upper thrust’ Babs is very focused. WHAM!! CRASH! SPLOSH! “Oops” “SEE! she did nothing! She didn’t hit your Mii at ALL! Mi remote isn’t wor……..”
Mo: WHAM!!
Babs: Thwump….One…two….. gets up. “But it isn’t wo………..”
Mo: WHAM!!
Babs: Thwump….One….two…. nine….TEN! Game over!
Babs: (looking around at the nuts and sweets all over the floor and the pools of tea soaking into the rug) “Oh look at the mess!”
Mo: “You was supposed to hit my Mii, not thump a mug of tea across the room! I hope it doesn’t stain the rug”
Babs (armed with cloth and carpet spray) “I don’t think it will (giggle) My Mii wouldn’t do anything …….. Oops! There’s tea all up the wall too!”
Mo: (calm as you like) “Well she can’t hit my Mii while I am jabbing at you. You have to wait, and hope I stop for long enough to get a hit in”
Now she tells me.
Note to self: Remember that the little Mii on the television screen isn’t what you are supposed literally to hit!
Stumble it!

I think that the boxing is hilarious … have you tried dodging the balls – swinging yourself over to the left then the right and just when you feel that you’re winning the Wii coach throws two at you at the same time … ouch, ouch!!

I can’t stop laughing either! Oh, what a sight! Remember, you’re supposed to spend more time standing than crawling around on the floor. And food is supposed to stay in the bowl!
I know you must have gotten a great workout. Boxing is, by far, the most vigorous workout for me of all the Wii sports. I’ll stick with tennis, thank you.

Lauren: Glad I gave you a good laugh
Castocreations: It was a lot of fun. Good job we can laugh at most things!
Polly: Oh my! They throw boots at you! I got dozens in my face. I was useless at that Ha ha!
Matt: Oh you must get one. They are such fun! You get fit at the same time too!
Sandee: Ha ha! A video would be great but me, in ungainly positions, I will not show. Watch out for a video of Mo though
Canucklehead: Oh definitely Wii-tarded, and enjoying every moment
Kathy: Oh I’m much the same with tennis! This is so much fun. Watching Mo do hoola-hoop is hilarious!

OHh how much I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall!! Although your descriptive run down is about just as good! hahah
I love the boxing! Although it does not react as fast… i was like jabajabjab as fast as I could.. and my Mii (;p) would only jab jab jab… it was so annoying, in the end I was just jabbing everywhere as fast as I could hoping that some would work haha … I did win in the end..
Friends say that you can get a different boxing one that has mitts as well.. I am thinking of having a look around, maybe it might reconise my blender jabbing, so they are not all in vein hehe
Have you are soreness from playing?
Ohh you guys must have a ball!

I have a Wii and it is great. My wife and I box each other all the time…..she wins a lot more than I do.
Also, your comment, “Note to self: Remember that the little Mii on the television screen isn’t what you are supposed literally to hit!”…………..when we played tennis, I kept telling my wife to back a way from the television; she was getting too close. Well, needless to say we how have a 6 inch scrape across the TV screen.
The Wii is a blast!!

Mel: Hello there! I’m not brilliant at boxing but it’s exercise
Oh my! I’ll have to watch that then. Probably just as well our TV is on the wall!
Jay: ha ha! It can be if you get too carried away
You have to keep reminding yourself that you can’t get inside the TV!

Lee: There’s a reason for this madness though. We got it to get fit and lose weight. I have to say that after just a week, it’s working! We’ll put up with the mishaps, coz it’s such fun!!
Vampy Vic: If I can do this much damage with the remote, I don’t dare get real boxing gloves!! I might get carried away and hit Mo! We only hurt for the first couple of days thank goodness. We are fine now. Though I think I could end up with one big arm and one flabby one, from the tennis, bowling and golf!

Hahahahaha! That reminds me of hubby and I playing the old Atari Boxing game. It was the only one I could beat him on. My strategy was just to wail on him as fast as I could, and he would just be overwhelmed!
Daughter’s Wii is in her room in the basement; the only game I’ve tried so far is bowling. Then I was stiff the next day.
Yes, I AM that out of shape!!!

When I was little we had one of those Nintendo power pads, it was a track game where you could actually run and watch it on screen. It took me almost ten years to figure it out, and I am still too traumatized by it to try the Wii. Though you make it sound fun.
beetle

Katherine: Oh it is fun! You should find a friend that has one and try it out.
Staci
| 26 January 2009 at 4:54
If you want more laughs, you should try one of the Wii games that makes you “dance.” Of course, you don’t really dance so much as swing your arms all over the place like a crazy person. You might take out the chandelier then or Mo’s eye. My nephew and I have earned quite a few bruises, all in the name of dancing like a Raving Rabbid, and the dogs have learned to run and hide when the Wii Remotes come out.
I have the problem you have with boxing with Wii tennis. If the ball goes to the other side of the court, I want to run in that direction instead of just swinging my arms that way. It’s lead to a few head-on collisions.

LOL that’s hilarious! With all the spilled tea and food you’d almost think the two of you were really boxing.
So far I haven’t knocked anything over or run into the table, but our dog (18 month old lab) is still getting used to us using the Wii. She’s been pretty good, but she sometimes tries to jump up at the Wii remote and that’s almost put me off balance a few times … plus it’s messed up whatever I was doing at the time .. ie golf shot, tennis etc. LOL I’m a natural klutz so I’m sure I’ll be posting about some strange (but hopefully funny) accident at some point.
How long do you usually play each day?

Staci: Oh you have made me laugh now! I can just see you! We moved the furniture right back so I have enough room to run back and forth with the tennis!! It’s more exercise!
Tricia: Ha ha! Sounds much like our house :O) I try to play for an hour in the morning and an hour at night, when most sane people are in bed! I shall look forward to some of your Wii posts
