Memories, or lack of
Last week, something happened and I said to Mo “I’ll blog this”. A day or so later something else occurred and I said the same thing. I had plenty of material just waiting for the moment.
When the time came to write the post, my mind went blank. It’s still blank. It’s been blank for a week now! I have no idea what was so interesting that it deserved publishing here, all I know is that it’s lost forever now.
Those who know me personally would probably say “Your mind’s gone blank? Nothing new there then” I have often been talking to someone and gone to mention, either a family member, or a close friends name and just stopped mid sentence, waiting for a prompt. Thankfully I usually get one, though it has been known for me to have to give an account of the person’s (with the increasingly elusive name) life story – including their family tree, before the person I’m speaking to prompts me! Whatever possessed me to start a blog? Who was I kidding, that I would be able to hold stuff in my head for long enough?
To be really honest, I have a very good memory. I can even remember expressions on peoples faces, where they were in the room in relation to me – I can see every little thing quite clearly. It’s like watching a recording playing back in my head. I can see things that happened forty years ago just as clearly! Why can’t I remember little things that happened just last week then?
Oh, I almost forgot. The purpose of this is to tell you – Sorry, no post today ;O)

Well, you said a lot here if you ask me. You made me chuckle too because I do the same thing very often. I think it’s the weather. It’s been winter forever and we are all in a rut. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Have a terrific day.

And I guess Mo doesn’t know what you were discussing that spurred it on, either?
That’s a bummer.
I keep a little log of unpublished posts in Blogger for ideas I might use. Most of them are El Sucko, but sometimes something good comes of it.
If I don’t write them down, like you, I’ll never remember them!

I have been going slow with my blogging and online activities these few weeks. But with that, I am also losing my blogging spark for lack of a better word.
That’s part of the reason I stole today’s post from dad.

Oh dear,
I didn’t think I was ever going to get in. I know exactly what you mean also. Why do you think I turned my blogs into photo blogs?
The only thing I have to remember is to take a picture of something! Of course, remembering which picture is for what meme on which day is an issue.
Oh my Babs I got a chuckle out of this one too. It’s quite the wonderful post considering it’s not a post!!
Big hugs!!

Sandee: I think you’re right. The weather, that’s what it is. The spring will bring forth posts in abundance
Jenn: I’m afraid Mo is as bad as me! I have my iPhone on me at all times and it has a ‘Note’ programme on it, yet I don’t think to use it!
Jaffer: Oh no! You must get the spark back again. Blogging without Jaffer wouldn’t be the same!
Mrs Mecomber: Oh yes! It’s always the best that get away! My post was going to be a cracker

I know exactly what you mean! I haven’t added to my blog since I put my painting and drawing on there. I have the same problem right now. I can’t for the life of me come up with a decent post. I have great intentions but then I go blank when I am faced with the blank page. At least you got something up. I left my blog untouched for over a week. I felt horrible about it.

Oh, I’m so relieved! It’s not just me then, judging by the comments above! I “borrowed” your term “blog block” coz I thought it was so descriptive and that maybe it happened to just us two, since going the rounds there are so many interesting posts happening out there! (And BTW, no matter how “blocked” you think you are, I always enjoy your blogs!) I don’t know, maybe lots of us are spending too much time on Facebook… I keep thinking of great stuff to blog about when I’m out, in the bath, or whatever, then when I turn the computer on… “?… ?!? Doh, bummer. Never mind, manyana…” (which never comes!).
I feel honoured that you love my doodles, coz I love yours! Just a few lines which express so much! I so wish I could do that. Teach me? Please? Srsly!!!

I always try to write down my ideas or draft something quickly before I forget. If I’m at work and think of something, I’ll shoot myself an email at home to remind me to write it–can’t blog at work you know! That’s a big no-no. Wow, look at all the comments you got on here–not bad for not writing a post, huh?

Jen: It does make me feel bad if I don’t post every three or four days. Maybe others don’t really notice though
Black cat: I don’t spend much time on Facebook but do spend a couple of hours a day on Wii. Once in the day, and again at night. You’d think that all that exercise would help
You don’t need doodle lessons. Just continue on with your style. They’re great!
Maureen: Oh I feel so much better now I know that it’s a worldwide thing ha ha! I used to blame it on what they put in our water
June: I once heard that those moments are when a grey cell in our brain dies. I have visions of a tiny grey cell, that holds a certain piece of information say “Bye bye” and float off taking the information with it ha ha!
Karen: You are right but I’ve never been good at note taking. If I do, I forget to read it anyway! A non post works – yeah!

Oh, I hate that. For a while I carried a tiny notebook that I put notes in (people’s phone numbers or random bits of info) and I would put down blog ideas in there.
But after a while it got confusing. A page in there might say:

Daughter doc appt. on Tues.
Which Tuesday? Did we go? Whose number is that? Which song? I couldn’t decipher my own code. It might work for you, though!

Babs:
It’s okay. This happens to my Queen and I all the time. I also have a good memory, but now days I find myself forgetting things I heard just five minutes ago. Sometimes when I’m writing I can’t even remember how to spell the simplest words. It’s frustrating. But ask me a question about something that happened fifty years ago, and I can give you a detailed account. Mostly, I think, it’s probably the result of too many distractions.
Now what was I going to say next? O’well…
Happy trails.

Shinade: Nope no bulbs here I’m afraid ha ha!
Wendy: Now THAT is eerily like me! I often say “Mo, what does this mean?” pointing to a note written down on a scrap of paper, and she says “I don’t know, it’s your writing” It makes a lot of sense when I write it, but a few days later it’s nonsensical!
Swubird: Oh yes, the spelling! I feel so stupid at times when I start to type a word and just stop mid word wondering how to finish it ha ha!
It’s a strange thing, this memory loss. Let’s hope it doesn’t gather momentum
C.B. Jones: Oh it would, but then it would be a non starter ha ha!

I have this stupid thing about not being able to spell simple words too. I think it’s a plot between keyboards, and it seema to be more active since I bought a new washable keyboard. But I now have a cunning plan to fool it. I keep an Oxford Pocket Spelling Dictionary on my desk and it works wonders! I also have the OH who is quite nifty when it comes to spelling!

I can’t remember how many times this happened to me. I’m still sharing a computer with my partner so I can’t do a lot of blogging presently. I’m just happy she’s giving me time once in awhile to update my blog.
What I do if a great idea comes to mind is I take note of it somewhere. If it’s a website I discovered, I add it to my favorites, under a folder I named Bloggables hehehe. Or, if I’m not at home, I do it on my mobile, under Notes.
But it doesn’t completely work for me. I’ve got 2 entries that I’ve already completed/finished but I haven’t posted them yet. Hah! I’m hoping things will change once I have my own computer… which should happen soon.
I’m enjoying your posts. I’ll come back for more reading.

Omigosh, girl….TWO WORDS…POST IT NOTES! Oops, that’s three words…nevertheless, I could not survive without Post It’s. I, too, stop mid-sentence and just hang there with my mouth open hoping the word will magically slip off my tongue. Seldom happens. Hubby or whoever usually tries to help and it is SO frustrating! Not fun getting old! If you have an idea, though, and feel it may elude you soon, WRITE IT DOWN! even if it’s in the middle of the night. I keep a pad and pen by the bed. It’s terrible how we have to compensate…LOL
