Tea and Birds Nests

posted by Babs on Monday, 6 April 2009

birdsnestIt was a lovely warm sunny day on Friday and Mo and I found ourselves sitting in a camper-van, with our niece and her husband, drinking tea and eating home made chocolate birds nests.  We were having fun, chatting and laughing and the time just flew by.

Somebody mentioned that it was getting late and we said that we ought to be making our way home now.  We thanked them for a lovely time, stepped out of the camper-van, walked off their driveway and around the corner.  We were home in under two minutes!

Would you sit in a camper-van drinking tea and chatting while parked on your driveway, or are we totally nuts?  It was fun!

If you think I am nutty enough to get a smiley, please click the button below.

Oh absolutely not ! It’s like being a kid again – setting up a tent and go out camping in the living room ;-)

In villages back in India, some men and their children would have their afternoon tea on the back of their Bullock-Cart while it is parked near their door.

The day you had is what I dream of for myself. Simple fun with family and friends. That’s the way it should always be!

Fun is Fun – no matter where you are or how you spend it!

Haha! That is nutty enough for not one, not two, but three whole smileys, and why not!
    :) :) :)

I think it’s lovely, like being away from home but really being away – great fun :)

  6. beetleNo Gravatar | 6 April 2009 at 13:55

Jaffer: Oh I’m so glad we’re not alone in this.

Lauren: Yes, it was nice to just relax, chat and laugh :)

Meleah: That’s very true and we should all try have as much as we can.

Eric & Flynn: Oh thank you, I have always aspired to being a bit nutty. It’s so much fun :)

LadyBanana: I must admit, it led to us going out in it the next day, parking up overlooking the Peaks, and having sausage sandwiches and tea. That’s another post!!!

  7. IvanhoeNo Gravatar | 6 April 2009 at 14:24

I think it’s cool to do that :o ) Oh and I like that nest, too. What is in it?

  8. beetleNo Gravatar | 6 April 2009 at 15:13

Ivanhoe: It’s Cadbury Bournville (dark chocolate) mixed with crushed Weetabix. Both ingredients are good for you so that can’t be bad :)

Actually Babs, it’s crushed shredded wheat, mixed with Bourneville chocolate, butter and golden syrup!! Hope you enjoyed them, although they were a bit too sweet for me:0) Sitting in the camper van on the drive with a cuppa in your hand is a bit like camping or being on holiday – great fun!

  14. beetleNo Gravatar | 7 April 2009 at 1:35

Sandie: That’s Sindie for you. I thought it didn’t feel like Weetabix :O)

Jay: You’re right. It was one of those impromptu things that just kind of happened :)

    Babs:

I’ve spent some of the happiest times of my life sitting in a camper van talking with friends.

    Happy trails.

  19. LeighNo Gravatar | 8 April 2009 at 0:51

My parents have days like that all the time, as they’re always visiting friends and parking their RV in the driveways. They love the RV life!

  20. beetleNo Gravatar | 8 April 2009 at 3:07

Swubird: Yes, there’s something about a camper van. I think it takes us back to our, childhood when we made little hideouts and dens ;)

Leigh: I must admit, it made Mo and I want one again. It’s such fun :)

Are you kidding? Me judge you? I’m having a birthday party for a plastic bag. I think that trumps your tea party in a camper on the crazy scale. Glad you had so much fun!

Cacai M: Life is short, we may as well have as much fun as possible while we’re here :)

Kathy: OK, OK. You beat me on the crazy scale. I’ll admit that a ‘plastic bag birthday party’ is the craziest, but I’m working on it ;)

  25. JudeNo Gravatar | 8 April 2009 at 16:33

Nothing crazy about enjoying yourself and I’ve never seen the birdsnest before is that a UK treat? It sounds delicious and looks so cute.

I think that sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon. Only instead of Weetabix, I would like my chocolate mixed with more chocolate.
