My life in three minutes

posted by Babs on Friday, 1 May 2009

This video took me ages to do, so I hope it’s worth it.  It was hard to find photos at the right ages and there may be a few years missing.  I don’t think there are any in my late 40’s there.  It’s hard to tell as I didn’t change much until I hit my 50’s.  Then it was all downhill – literally!

I can’t put it on YouTube as it is, so will have to do it again with a karaoke track.  They were very nice about telling me I may be infringing copyright with the music, and aren’t they quick?  No sooner had I uploaded it, they blocked it!  Anyway here it is.  My life in three minutes.  Hope you enjoy it.

Oh and feel free to laugh at the bows!

Wow – that is awesome that you have so many pictures of your life (and your hairstyles!!!) — I love it at the end where you Turn Back Time, and get to pick the spot where you’d stay… awesome!
    Have a great weekend!

Love it! What a nice idea! Cool pics!
As Mo said I like the way you did the end…

What Mo said!!! I loved that you flipped back a little and found just the right spot. Your pictures are great. I wish I had eyes that smile like yours.

(And, yes! It was worth your time!)

That was cool! I liked seeing your different hairdos, too. My favorite were some of the little pixie cuts.

That was amazing Babs. I love it. You are lovely. Thanks for sharing your life with the rest of us. I like where you would love to be too. Perfect.

Have a terrific day and weekend. :)

Oh, my gosh! I’ve got a huge smile on my face and SHIVERS! That was awesome, Babs! I loved all the photos (what a CUTIE!) and the whole idea of turning the pages back to where you would most like to stay.

Well done! And yes, WELL worth the time it took!

Mo: I had far more photos, but a whole batch have mysteriously disappeared. Mo had to rummage around in the loft to find some of these ;) I’m so glad you liked it.

Astrid: The idea just popped out of nowhere and then I heard the song on the radio. That clinched it.

Kathy: Oh I bet everyone has smiling eyes when they smile. You just don’t see yourself as others do :) How come you didn’t laugh at the bows?

Daisy: The pixie cuts was how I wore my hair most of my young life. They don’t work as you get older, though Judy Dench still looks great with hers ;)

Sandee: Twenty six and my whole life ahead of me – who wouldn’t want to go back there?

JD: You were supposed to laugh at the bows. I expected at least a little chuckle – What happened? Glad you enjoyed it though :)

  8. LeighNo Gravatar | 1 May 2009 at 16:57

That’s really cool! I’m with you, I’d stay about 26 if I could.

  9. IvanhoeNo Gravatar | 1 May 2009 at 17:52

Awesome, Babs! I loved all the hairstyles. My hair changes all the time, too. I’d stay at 28. That was a pretty good year as far as I can remember ;o)

That was really great! I love how the pages, and ages, started peeling back at the end!

I’m at the Judi Dench do-stage, myself. Just can’t be bothered fooling with it every day anymore.

Leigh: Yes that’s not a bad age to be – just coming up to your prime :)

Ivanhoe: 28 is just about reaching your prime. A lovely age to stop at!

Sandie: Yes, it made me a bit sad too. I have to force myself to accept that it’s all gone now.

Barb: I am so tempted to cut my hair that short again, just for the ease of it, but I’m not sure it would still work for me.

  13. granny grimbleNo Gravatar | 1 May 2009 at 22:53

Oh Babs! That made me feel quite sad. Where did you go? I didn’t notice you going either! There were some beautiful photos of you that I’d never seen before. Please can I have a copy of the one with the guitar and the long hair. I didn’t realise how beautiful you were, we take things for granted, and then find out that we can’t backtrack.

I loved the turning back thing too! And I love all the photos, too. You were so cute! I always wished I had one of those elfin faces.

Now, I’d be happy just to turn back time and stop at around thirty!

  15. beetleNo Gravatar | 2 May 2009 at 0:24

granny grimble: I do get sad when looking back at photos, but I try to shrug it off and just be grateful I’m still here.

Jay: I was 26 there. Thirty’s good, but I had a bad health patch until my mid thirties so didn’t choose that age ;)

Okay – I’m crying, lol. I really loved that! You did an amazing job and everything fit with the music and words and I love how you go back in time. So goooood!

  18. teeniNo Gravatar | 2 May 2009 at 5:23

I came here thanks to Speedcat and I LOVED your slideshow! You did a great job on it. You are beautiful and it was interesting to see because in one of the pictures of you as a kid you got a bit of a hint of what you would look like as a woman. I loved the turning back the pages effect. So, do you still play guitar? :)

  19. beetleNo Gravatar | 2 May 2009 at 12:49

Speedy: Thank you for saying that. It’s a compliment indeed!

Drowsey: If you’re crying, how do you think I feel? :)

Teeni: Hello, and welcome. Glad you like the video, and yes I still play guitar. I have three ;)

  25. LeeNo Gravatar | 3 May 2009 at 20:11

I’m with Speedy…you are cute. Excellent slideshow and a great choice for the music. YouTube is so stupid, it’s not as if they don’t have a few copyright violations residing on their site. How did they find you so fast?

Anyway, great job Babs. That was very enjoyable.

Lee: I have no idea how they found it instantly. They must have means of checking as you upload. Never mind. I’ll do another with the karaoke track – it’s not as good though.

Meleah: Thank you Meleah. I know this is one of your hobbies too. Your videos are always good :)

Maureen: The idea just popped into my head in a flash. I wish more post ideas would do that. Blogging made easy ;)

That’s fantastic, to see all those different hairstyles and and, well just everything about it!

I’m not sure I even have that many photos of myself over the years, I’d love to do that sometime.

    Thanks for posting :)

Babs, it was amazing, I don’t know why, but it almost made me crying. Time is flying, and regardless of if you looked fabulous all the time!
Thanks for making this, it really made my day, you remind me so like my mum, I’m sure you both share the same age, and on the photo as a little girl with the big ribbon you look so similar to my mum lol :)
    Hugs to you dear Babs!

You know, I had the same idea this days but could not do it else. What is interesting I noticed -and you confirm my observation- persons rarely change the hair cut in the years. I don’t say for one time to times but generally remain always in one image. Mmmm?

btw… YouTube may have squashed it faster if you named it the same as the song.

Hi Babs, really enjoyed your slideshow…what a nice idea and you did a great job…I particulary enjoyed seeing you celebrating your 60th birthday (I am 61) so I think I can welcome you to Cronedom, and I mean that as a compliment. It is nice to find another Crone on the Web…I will be visiting often. Your site is so professional…how long have you been blogging? I have been at it about a year and a half, hope to evolve to your level of expertise…

  40. beetleNo Gravatar | 7 May 2009 at 3:15

Sharon: Hi and welcome to my blog. I think there are a few crones, but I haven’t found one older than me yet! Please do come back. I love meeting new bloggers. I’ve been blogging for about the same length of time. I’ve had some good blogging mentors and it’s been a case of ‘watch and learn’ with me ;)
