What not to do as a front seat passenger in a car.

When you are a passenger in a car sometimes the driver asks you to help out a little, and rightfully so.  After all, you are being chauffeured around.

This is how it often goes in our car…..

Mo, who is the driver, is just approaching a T-Junction and wants to turn right.  As you may be aware, in the UK the driver is on the right, so their left side view is often not good with a passenger blocking their view.

Mo: “What’s it like your way?”
Babs: “Oh, it’s very pretty”

Mo bursts into uncontrollable laughter.  Not good when trying to turn right at a T-Junction, and still not knowing what it was like my way!

I was actually joking there, and my aim was to make Mo laugh, but this next one was for real!

Again Mo was wanting to turn right.  A nice, polite driver had stopped to let her out.

Mo: “Give him a wave”
Babs, assuming Mo knew the person, waved frantically as they pulled out in front of him and drove off up the road!!!

I can just imagine that for the next half hour he was probably saying to himself “Who was that woman?”…..” Maybe I should have waved back”…..”I must know her from somewhere”….. “She’ll probably think I’m rude”…….

Maybe she was just an idiot!  Mo and I were in fits of laughter again!

WELL!!  Why do they say ‘wave’?  Why don’t they just say put your hand up if that’s what they mean?

Oh my this was funny! It’s hard to be the passenger for me. I very much tell the driver what he/she is doing wrong.

Hahaha! OH does that to me – ‘just give him a wave will you? Did you wave? You did give him a wave, didn’t you?’ Honestly, half the drivers in the East Midlands must think I’m a long lost friend by now! LOL!

    babs:

    Too funny.

Rent a car with the steering wheel on the left side. Then see what happens.

    Happy trails.

  18. beetleNo Gravatar | 20 May 2009 at 0:47

Maureen: I must admit the wave made us chuckle for a long time :)

Paul: I was very funny at the time too!

Jay: Hahaha! I bet everyone in the East Midlands and Yorkshire are driving around saying “I must notice who waves at me in future” :)

Swubird: Oh my! Do you want us to never stop laughing? I think the other drivers on the road may not think it funny though ;)

  19. beetleNo Gravatar | 20 May 2009 at 17:23

Meleah: We do try to laugh as much as possible through life. No matter where we are :D

Living in Los Angeles and only having driven in your fair country once (and once was enough on the wrong side of the road for me!) I can only say– The whole wave part would have ben totally lost on me :-)
    Very funny post! More please.

Now if I say that I wanted to partecipate too you have yto buy a bus to take all those who wants to go out with your car. Well, I’ll not say it. I only will imagnie what feels my husband when I do him similar jokes.(but he do not understand -and it’s great reason to laugh too!)

Vampy Vic: Nearly missed you there. They were probably about 20 ft away – just far enough to not see a person too well, behind a car window.

Sandee: I’ve suddenly remembered an old Donovan song ‘Take you riding in my car, car’ ;)

Joanna: The streets in America look VERY, VERY scary to me. Such huge cars too :)

Liudmila: We had a minibus once that held 17 passengers. We had lots of laughs in that! We used to sing most of the journey!
