I must go down to the sea today….
A chance would be a fine thing!
This is where Mo spent last week, while I was stuck at home with only the cats to talk to, or not as was the case.
She had a great time. Well, who wouldn’t with a view like that to look at every day? She phoned me one time and I could hear the sea over the phone. It didn’t help me feel good, I can tell you.
It was only made better by the fact that Mo bought me back some of this. It’s Devons famous clotted cream fudge. I don’t like clotted cream but the fudge is melt-in-the-mouth delicious. It’s a good job I don’t live in Devon. I could eat it non stop.
I got something else too. I am famed for letting my drinks go cold. I love a nice cup of tea but always end up drinking lukewarm tea because I forget it. I can still clearly hear my mum saying “Babs, your tea!” Then I would have to gulp down a cup of lukewarm, or cold tea! I didn’t like it but it would have been ungrateful to throw it away, wouldn’t it? Those were the days before microwaves, so there was no way to reheat it.
Anyway, look at the pretty mug I got.
What makes this one special is the lid that sits on the top, keeping the drink nice and hot. I’ve used it since Mo got back and each time I’ve had a nice hot cuppa! Now I just need to remember to actually put the lid on it!
Do you think this was a fair exchange for a week by the sea?

Hmm. Maybe not a completely fair exchange . . . although you DID say there was chocolate. Yes. OK: a fair exchange. Cute cup!

Well I think perhaps Mo coming home was the best part. Just saying. Okay the fudge was a close second. Love the cup and lid. They work if you remember to put the lid on.
Have a terrific day.

For me chocolate would be a fair exchange even clotted (whatever that means) chocolate is chocolate. And the mug was very thoughtful.

Not hardly a fair exchange, no, but a very nice remembrance.

Any food with “clotted” in the name was meant for me. Love the mug and the neat lid for it! USE THE LID, BABS! USE THE LID!

JD: No chocolate! Fudge has no chocolate but is delicious!
Sandee: I’ve only forgotten the lid once so far so things are looking good
Jen: I think I may have to add a photo of some fudge. The ‘clotted’ part comes from the thick (clotted) cream that’s used in the making of it.
Barb: It was nice that she got me some fudge again this year. She knows I love it.
LadyBanana: You are right. I hate saying it, but when we don’t have such a dependent cat I will be able to go with Mo.
Kathy: Now I know you would just LOVE the fudge! I have used the lid most times – honest!

I hope you two have a marvelous reunion!!:-)

Although the cuppa is really nice, I think that you should go with Mo next year. There’s nothing like a fresh smell of an ocean and the sound of the waves crashing on the beach….ahhhhhhh….Thank you for sharing the photo

Great gifts and although I think the mug is wonderful I would still rather be sitting there looking at that view in person.

You don’t like clotted cream? Sacrilege!!! Of course it has to be Devon clotted cream, not Cornish. The mug is beautiful, and such a good idea. My husband was born in Widecombe in the Moor, and no, his name isn’t Tom Cobley.

I’m happy you’re not lonely any more and those were nice thoughtful gifts. Don’t you have a friend that might possibly watch your cat next time? Places that rent out cottages or rooms wont let you bring your pet for an extra fee, like in the states?

I’ve had some of that fudge – it’s deadly!! Should be banned, or at least have a government health warning on it!
The mug is a good idea. Perhaps I should try to find a nice big masculine one for OH? He hates cold tea! I could put his morning cuppa in it, so if he dozes off again, it’ll still be hot when he wakes.

Jackie: Yes, everything is back to normal now
The week went quite quickly really.
Ivanhoe: I would if it were not for the fact that Livvie needs daily medication and a lot of looking after. Poor old girl
Ann: Yes, I will go for a day trip to the sea soon.
Eric & Flynn: I know! I’m the only person i know that doesn’t like it! Mo went to Teignmouth. I’ve never been to Devon myself, but I know it’s beautiful
Jude: Unfortunately one of our cats needs so much attention that we couldn’t expect anyone else to meet her needs.
Jay: Yes, the fudge is deadly! Thank goodness it’s a one off. I used to have a large mug with a lid that was pretty acceptable for a man. In fact Mo gave a workman a cuppa in it and he broke the lid. I’m sure OH would love one.

I love that cup! Since I am not a real fudge eating type person, I would have had to have Mo stay with the kitty cat and I would have gone. Glad the week went by fast!

I love the mug. I’m an other who leaves the tea to get cold, I forget it’s there. The lid sounds brilliant…but yes you need to put it on for it to work.
Fudge..you have fudge? I’ll be there!! I could eat Devon fudge all day..and then some. I can taste it now.
have a great weekend and enjoy the fudge!! If there is any left by now.

Babs:
Those are cool little cups. My Queen bought a few of those and then before I could say “hot chocolate” we had about a dozen of them. She is a habitual collector of everything.
Happy trails.

Jackie: Thank you so much for the lovely thought! I downloaded it
Adam: They do keep the tea lovely and hot for you!
Ettarose: Well, I must admit, it would have been nice to have gone, but Mo’s sister may have been disappointed
June: You have to be quick if you want a piece of this fudge
Swubird: Ha ha! A dozen? Still, you can rotate them to your fancy
