Wonderful news! I’d be wearing a sparkly hat, too!

My mother had a chest ray a few weeks ago as part of an out-patient procedure. Las week her doctor’s office called to tell her the doctor ordered a CT Scan because of something they saw in the chest x-ray. She had teh CT last Thursday, so we are still waiting for the results. I hope it is something we can be relieved about as well.

Oh, those medical tests are always scary–glad you got good news and it wasn’t cancer. I even dread going for the mammograms and I have one coming up in June–UGH!

Um…that doesn’t sound correct to me. Sorry to report shitty news. But that causes cancer and I think they are f*cking with you because they don’t want to pay for treatment. Please push this. They have HUGE commericals here about this and my great uncle passed from this.

Meleah: Yes we were so relieved!

Lauren: Thanks for your concern, but we have some of the best hospitals in the country here in Yorkshire. Mo only went for treatment for arthritis. They were so thorough that they discovered this, and would certainly treat anything they found. It may be different in the US, but here in the UK everybody is given the best treatment that can be offered, no matter what.

Oh my Babs and Mo! So sorry to hear what an ordeal that must have been, but so, so happy it ended well.

It reminds us all how precious each moment is. All the best to you both.

So glad everything turned out okay. I can really sympathize with this one, because I was also exposed to friable asbestos way back in the 60’s. Been sweating it out ever since.

Maureen: It was one of the worst weeks ever, but waiting an hour (until the last) for the results was unbelievably hard. Yes, life is precious

Swubird: I wonder what is being used now that in fifty years time we’ll discover has damaged our health! Glad you’re OK though!

Well, that’s good news. Do they plan to keep an eye on it? Is there anything than can be done to calm the inflammation? Because I believe asbestosis can evolve into mesothelioma over time.

Jenn: Yes, they have some tests to run for breath levels and will check again in three months. They were very specific about the form of Asbestosis Mo has and said that she will not get any other symptoms. She will be having ongoing checks though.

You will have noticed that *I* haven’t posted or commented in awhile either. In fact, your post here is the first one I’ve even looked at in my reader all week. But I’m glad I did so I could stop in and tell you how happy I am that everything turned out ok. It’s really hard to write when you’re worried about something. Trust me… I know.

Jeff: Thank you. Worry and stress is not good. We try hard not to worry but with big things we just can’t help it. I pray that things turn around for you soon!

Anyone can be misdiagnosed no matter the country. We have the ultimate healthcare system, bar none in the U.S. but when you have socialized medicine — money is the issue. There are MANY MANY people in your country speaking out about not getting care because of cost or waiting insane amounts of time for tests that here would be routine. And I think you are skirting the issue I raised to you out of care and concern, and put this on me as a US vs England thing. TSK TSK after the amount of time I know you and what we’ve shared! Hmmm What I said was that I have a relative that DIED of this…people DIE from this…it turns INTO CANCER and she should push further. I know it’s hard to hear something like this when you don’t want to hear it, when it’s someone you love but there’s no good in burying your head in the sand. You do with this what you want. I sadly know the truth.
