For Sindie

posted by Babs on Thursday, 15 October 2009

This post is in memory of our beautiful niece Sindie, who passed away this evening at 39 years of age.

Our lives will never be the same.

This is what a friend wrote about Sindie yesterday – It says it all.

“Sindie is a remarkable woman. Always positive in adversity, always looking on the positive and lighter side, always concerned for others, a fighter to the end.”

It was Sindie’s wish that donations be made to the ‘The Cavendish Centre’. For any of her friends that wish to donate, and leave a comment, here is the link to the site.

I’ll be back blogging soon.

This recent quote brought solace to a friend who just lost his spouse.

When you are sorrowful look again in your heart, and you shall see that in truth, you are weeping for that which has been your delight. – Quote by Kahlil Gibran

I am sure the joy Sindie’s smile brought to the world will continue to shine in the hearts of those who love her for eternity. The blessing I feel is this: love never dies!

You are in my thoughts Babs.

I got the news this morning and its all I have thought about all day. I belong to the British Bears on the Net, where Sindie used to hang out during her teddy bear making days. I even had the pleasure of being next to her at the occasional teddy bear fair. You could never be in the same room as Sindie and not know she was there. She had a smile for everyone and was always shrieking with laughter. You couldn’t not smile when she was around. A real tonic and a pleasure to spend time with. I had been following her blog but had seen that she hadn’t updated it for a while and without an email address I wasn’t sure how to contact her to find out how she was. This morning I got up with a sinking feeling in my stomach but didn’t know why, within a couple of hours I got the email that told me of Sindie’s passing. My heart goes out to you Sindie’s family, how tough it must be for Gary and the girls and Sindie’s Mum. Life is so unfair. Beverley xx

We share your sadness on your loss. Although we never met Sindie, we felt close to her as her Auntie Tina kept us posted about her inspiring attitude toward her illness, not appearing to wallow in self pity but putting others first always, and making the most of every opportunity opened to her.
Though a long distance away, we also felt the love that surrounded her from so many people, which had to have reassured and comforted her at all times. She, and all she loved had been in our daily thoughts and prayers, and we will continue to do so.
‘Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes in the morning’ Psalm 30:5 May these words help you all, through this very difficult time. God bless

  22. LynneNo Gravatar | 17 October 2009 at 16:47

I knew Sindie for many years through bear making. She always seemed to bounce through life, making everyone around her laugh with her. Her legendary sense of humour was often bizarre and always infectious. She had enormous talent but never boasted. There is no other way to describe her but as being a wonderful person. So often after we have lost someone we gloss over their faults, but I can honestly say I know of none in Sindie.
The world is a little darker now that she is gone. I will always remember her with a smile and sadness that we lost her so very young.

Please send my love to the family. I would appreciate it if you could let me know the funeral details as I want to come and say goodbye to my friend.

Although we never met Sindie we feel we know her well. Tina told us what a wonderful woman she was, who will now be in God’s care with no pain, anguish or illness. We pray you will feel God’s love at this most difficult time. May God bless all of you and be assured you will be in our prayers .
    God bless

We corresponded occasionally, and she sent me a rabbit she had made.I will treasure it.
Like Lynne, I too would like to come to say goodbye to a wonderful character, who will be deeply missed.

My adorable and beautiful niece Sindie. Always uplifting, ever the up-lifter! There was no end to her talents, but she was so modest. Each new task she undertook was met with the same high enthusiasm, just as she amazingly met each new fight with her illness. She was, simply put, remarkable in every way, one of God’s very special people, who always had the time to help make other peoples lives better if she could, regardless of her own problems. Oh I will miss what we shared Sindie, and I thank you for the memories and the love you gave me always. God bless you beautiful Sindie Poo.

Sindie has gone and we are all heartbroken at our loss. I am so glad that I told her how brave I thought she was, how I admired her talents and how much I loved her while she was still here and holding her own. I count it a blessing and an honour to have been Sindie’s Aunty, and I still can’t believe the things that have happened these past few days. God bless and keep you Sindie Poo.

I met Sindie on the BAG convention, and as Anji already wrote, once met, never forgotten. I always wil remember Sindie in the way I met her in Milton Keynes,a spontaneous, lovely and sometimes naughty lady.

Words cannot express our heartfelt sadness on your loss of Sindie. Tina has shared with us so many things about Sindie, about her love for life as well as some of her struggles. We want you to know that you are in our prayers, not just at church like last night, but also in our private time with God. In times like these, the best place to find refuge is in the everlasting arms of God. May you truly be comforted in the shelter of His wings and find rest.
Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD! Psalm 27:4

Just to let you know that I will be thinking & praying for you Sandie, and your family, tomorrow (Monday 26th). Sindie will be sorely missed by everyone who ever knew her.

I read this recently: When you find yourself doubting and questioning God, pray: ‘Lord, believing isn’t easy when I’m hurt and confused, and You are silent. Like Thomas I want proof that You love me. Help me see beyond my desire for peace and comfort, beyond my doubts and unanswered questions, and grasp the truth of Your unfailing love and grace’

Hope it helps but I do know that as we draw close to Him, He will draw close to us.

Much love to you all at this sad time.
