Hot off the ice!
Mo and I always have a healthy supply of rocket balloons and fun things for kids. They are the residue of our days running our puppet theatre. We always used lots of rocket balloons at the end of our shows, the kids loved them.
Our niece came to visit today, with her children and we got a selection out for them (and us) to play with. It was great fun watching the kids, and hearing their squeals of delight as the balloons whizzed around the room in all directions. The place was a mess, but we loved it.
It was time to go home and Mo got a large, black dustbin (trash can) liner out to hold all their balloons and bits. It was so full that it couldn’t be tied! I’m sure their parents were happy at that – NOT! They were going to a hotel for the night!
Our niece, Leeta, was the last to say goodbye. It was cold and there was a layer of ice on the ground. Our driveway slopes down toward the house and you take your life in your hands trying to go up from, or down to, the house in the icy weather.
I want you to picture this.
Leeta, being young, and very glamourous, was not wearing ’sensible’ shoes. She was wearing shoes with a heel. She started up the drive to her car. She was about half way up, turned to say goodbye and slipped on the ice. She took a step into the skid, in order to save herself……. then another, and another. She picked up momentum as she went, laughing, slipping and running …… laughing, slipping and running ……. laughing, slipping …….. SMACK! She finally stopped when she met the garage door! Mo and I were doubled over with laughter. This was a real ‘Lucille Ball’ moment if ever I saw one. The three of us were laughing so hard that a Tenalady each would have been in order! “Oh, I’m, going to wee myself” I said. “I already have!” said Leeta, making us laugh all the more. She finally made it to her car and after fighting with a bin liner full of balloons, and motioning that all the neighbours were peering out of their windows, managed to get herself safely in the car. She was still laughing as they drove off.
That moment will stay in our memories for a long time to come. I’m laughing as I write this. What a perfect ending to a fun day. Sorry neighbours.
I apologize for the lack of a doodle in this post, but I lost my graphics programme with the demise of my computer.
Stumble it!

When you pee your pants because you are laughing so hard that means it was really funny. What a hilarious event. I would have been laughing too. Leeta has a good sense of humor too. Laughing at her own self.
Have a terrific day. Big hug.

Chuckling here at the vision of a sliding, slipping Leeta. I’m guessing the next time she visits in winter, she’ll be wearing mountain climber boots!
Sounds like you had a blast of a day. I’d get those rocket balloons myself for cat toys if it didn’t sound like something kitties shouldn’t have access to.

ha ha hee he, How funny, poor Leeta. Thank goodness she is young, it would have broken my back!! I expect the children will be phoning me once they are back home with ‘Gran Gran guess what mummy did’ lol I am so jealous you got to see my baby and grandchildren. That is the drawback of living in Spain!

Hahaha! I was waiting for you to say that she fell on the sack of balloons! I’m sure it would have broken her fall much better than the garage door! Glad she wasn’t hurt.

Andi: I’m glad you had a laugh too
Sandee: It was definitely one of those moments, and Leeta was laughing as much as we were
Kathy: I’ll bet she wears flat shoes next time. Our cats will not stay in the same room as rocket balloons. They make such a noise as they fly around, I think they would climb the walls in fear! They were safely out of the way.
Eric & Flynn: Hello there! I might have known your mum would have a good laugh at that
Tina: Only Mo and I saw it. Martin had already taken the kids up to the car. She didn’t hurt herself as she stopped the impact with her hands. It was hilarious! She went all dainty, like a fairy
Jay: The balloons were up at the car by then so she kind of danced down the driveway, arms waving. Ha ha!

Hahahaha. I was laughing too, I do love some slapstick. We watched National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation a couple nights ago, and I just lose it when he rides his lightning saucer down a hill.
No wonder you and Mo are so funny – you did puppet theater! I needed you in my childhood.
But all that mirth came to an end when I read about your poor graphics programme biting the dust.
Hope you’ll be getting it back.

Crabby Blogging Lady: I know! I said that very thing when it happened! It would have been a gem
Ruth: It was the most fun-filled years ever, when we did puppets. You wouldn’t believe how much stamina you need. We got a bit too old and cranky for it in the end.
I am sure they will fix my iMac and I will have my graphics again

Barb: What I would have given to have a camera handy!
JD: The programme is OK. It just won’t run on my new computer, and it cost far too much to get another. I have to wait for my Imac to come back from the hospital, then all will be well again

Meleah: So do I. We could have got £250 for it on ‘You’ve Been Framed’ In case you don’t know, it’s a TV show of funny videos that viewers send in.
Ivanhoe: She was fine. We love to have visitors. Sadly most of my family live too far away to see often. Lovely to hear from you

She was very lucky not to hurt herself, but I wish I’d seen it too! Just think if you’d filmed it, it would have made her famous on youtube!

Ahahahaha! See, it’s only funny when someone doesn’t get hurt, or it’s not me….
Your description was hilarious. Poor Leeta. So glad she wasn’t hurt! We have plenty of ice around here, so I only wear running shoes outdoors. Even with those good traction shoes, I STILL find myself hopelessly sliding around! I just pray no one has a video recorder running nearby.
Happy Holidays Babs and Mo!!!!
