I’m taking a leap in the dark!
I’m so sick of trying to salvage my cat blog that I’ve decided to go back to Blogger - Nooooo, not really!
I have decided to completely zap Simplycats off my server, including the sub-domain. Then I shall load a new copy of WordPress 2.7, make my sub-domain again and drag my old back-up into the directory. This, should downgrade it to WordPress 2.6. I will deactivate EVERYTHING! and upgrade again.
This may, or may not work. Wish me well!

Babs, it might have been asked before, but do you use the WordPress Automatic Updater plug-in? I’ve had very good luck with it on my last 3 upgrades. I just upgraded to 2.7 a few minutes ago. Worked like a charm, except for the DB Backup part. But that’s no biggie because I do that myself.
Part of what makes it to useful is that one of the steps automatically deactivates all my plug-ins, then another step reactivates them.
Like Banana, I’m crossing all my appendages for you as you work through this mess.

Babs,
I only got to read yesterday what has been happenning to your blog ! I am so sorry !
Wordpress 2.7 hasn’t been kind to me either. I broke my comments section and spent three whole days fixing it. Then I decided to abandon anything blogging related for a while - including commenting to an extent that now my brother is incharge of monitoring the comments and tells me if there’s a new comment to respond to.
I hope everything turns out in your favour what ever decision you make.
