Now I see it!

Look what I got for Christmas!  I’ve wanted one for so long.

.

Last year I posted about my nice new camera that I found under the Christmas Tree.  This years post is about the lens I found under the same tree.  Did I miss it last year?  Was it hiding so deep in the branches that I overlooked it?  No, Santa came again this year.  He knew that I’d wanted this lens for a long time, and he tries not to disappoint.

I can take photos like this really close up shot …..

macro

to this panoramic view, and all with one lens …..

wide angle

This is a photo of our local reservoir, taken on Boxing day, and I could never get this much in one shot before.  I’m thrilled with it.  Click the photo for an enlargement, you know you want to.

For those of you who are photographers, it’s a Canon EFS 17 – 85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM.  For those of you who aren’t, it’s heavy!

I hope you all got something special for Christmas.

    Nice!

I’m excited for you! What a cool camera (not that I know anything about cameras).

I’m looking forward to the many awesome photos you will share.

And me? I got a WEBCAM!!!

Awesome Babs! What a wonderful gift! We gave daughter a Canon Rebel for Christmas too!!!

Beautiful photos; ah a camera is a blogger’s best friend. But Mo will have to watch out even more for the paparazzi! ;)

    Babs:

A great Christmas gift. I did click on the photo. What a fabulous picture. Well done.

    Happy trails.

Okay, so it’s heavy. You can tell I’m not a photographer. Don’t get the lingo at all. I’m happy Santa visited you again this year. I wonder what’s in store for next year. Better start in now. Just saying.

Have a terrific day. Big hug to you both. :)

Santa brought me a new camera. It’s the only thing I asked for and he delivered. I’m not fancy enough to need a new lens, I like cameras with the lenses attached, but thrilled just the same. The pics are crystal clear. Enjoy your new toy!

JD: Oh it is cool, though I throw out a lot of bad shots ;) A WEBCAM? And you didn’t say Happy Christmas to me?

Maureen: I have always loved Canon cameras, so this was inevitable :) Mo knows she will be snapped at every moment – just in case I get a great shot for a blog post.

Swubird: I’m still re-learning all that I’ve forgotten. It’s about 30 years since I sold all my photographic equipment, but I’m enjoying it again.

Sandee: I have been a happy snapper for many years, so I also see the good in letting the camera do all the work for you ;)

Mr Stupid: Hi, and welcome! I have such a long list that I have to make serious choices every Christmas ;)

Barb: Oh but you take such lovely photos. Surely you have everything! ;)

Daisy: Yes, I can now take photos of Sukie. She tolerates it now that I don’t have to get right in her face ;)

Shelly: Hi! I also have my ‘point and shoot’ camera, that takes great photos. I just like to feel that sense of achievement when I have to do all the work. Even though I do throw a lot of bad shots out!

Meleah: I love it, and it’s made all the better now I have this lens :D I was pleased with the macro shots too.

    Congratulations!

(This is the third time I’ve tried leaving this one word comment. I wonder if it will work this time.)

  15. beetleNo Gravatar | 31 December 2009 at 2:41

LadyBanana: Well I’ll try and take some good photos. I have to throw out lots :D

Ruth: For some strange reason, you got filtered out as spam. I’m sorry, I have no idea how that happened. How could they think that Ruthie was a spammer? ;)

Oh, Babsie, what a GREAT gift!! I bet you’ve hardly stopped playing with it!

I love having a new lens, and that one looks as if it will take some spiffing shots! Lucky you!

Cool lens, Babs. I have the Canon 24-105mm IS lens, and I use it about 90% of the time. From what I’ve read, yours is very similar in functionality. My big gift to myself this year was a new Canon EOS 50D camera to replace my 20D. Now if it would just warm up enough for me to use it.
