Blogging from my iPad

Now I own an iPad I just had to see if it could be used as a blogging aid, so I decided to search for an app. I found WordPress for the iPad, but discovered that you couldn’t easily format text. It had to be done in HTML and I don’t want to mess about with that. A bit more searching brought me to an app called BlogPress. This app is pretty much all I would need for basic blogging.

I decided to test it out, so here goes. Here are a few photos as a test for layout.

The first was taken last year. We have very mild and sometimes sunny
weather this year, so I thought I’d get nostalgic for some frost.

The next is a photo of one of my guitars.

This was taken last year too. A daisy growing on our lawn.

I have no idea what this will look like once it’s posted on my blog, but I hope it will be be OK. It would be a great help for blogging without needing to be at my desktop PC.

Here we go…….1……….2…………3…………

– Posted from my iPad

  • My Goodness ! What is going on with your comments ! And who am I talking about in my other comment ?!

It take a bit of getting used to blogging from a tablet or a mobile device … but it can be great fun if you tend to post incessantly

    • Jaffer. I have no idea what’s happened! I am having real difficulty using my admin panel today, so I’m finding it impossible to see what’s happened! I think my blog is jinxed lately!
The comments are from an old post that I haven’t even uploaded yet! I wonder what would happen if I posted it now? I may try that.

I am still unable to read your blog until I get to the guitar photo.ย  The top part of the page is covered with the detail which I think should be down the right hand side of your blog ๐Ÿ™ย ย  I use Firefox.

    • I’m so sorry you are still having problems. All I can say is to update Firefox to the latest version and it should clear it. It removed the problem for others. If that doesn’t do it, I really don’t know if it is something within your view settings on your PC that my template doesn’t like. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help, but I hope upgrading your Firefox fixes it for you.

      • Mary

Thanks for the advice.ย  I did update my Firefox a while back but it slowed everything on the computer down so much that I reverted back to the older version!ย  I have just tried your blog on Google Chrome and it’s fine on there, phew.ย ย  Thanks again and good luck with conquering your hacker problem, it’s so sad that people can’t leave things alone…

        • Oh, I’m so glad you solved the problem! My Firefox uses almost 1gig of memory on my computer! I’m beginning to hate Firefox. I may well be changing my template at some point again, so that may also solve the problem with the old Firefox ๐Ÿ™‚

    The post looks GREAT Babs!

    The photos came out AMAZING!

Isn’t it something how people can use their phones to do almost anything online? ย I don’t even own a cell phone, because I’m so worried that I’d spend my whole day checking emails, responding to comments, and reading other blogs.

LOVE that last shot of the daisy. It’s so sharp and clear!

    • Hi Ron. I must admit it does look good, though I can’t think for the life of me, how it has grabbed all the comments from a post that’s 3 years old! I wish I knew how to move comments ๐Ÿ™

I have never used my phone for reading emails or the web. I find it too small for my liking. The iPad is a whole different ball game though ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Rebecca @

Good on ya! I have tried the WordPress app and don’t like it much, either. I’ll definitely look into BlogPress.

OMG YOU PLAY ELECTRIC GUITAR?!?! We are a guitar-guggling family. IT’s always wonderful to know of another player. ๐Ÿ™‚

    • BlogPress seems to be fine, though I can’t see where you can add tags. I will investigate more. Posting them as drafts is probably the best way if you use tags and stuff.
Yes. I have three guitars, not that I play much any more.

  • Michael Whiteman-Jones does a lot of his blogs on his iPad.ย  This looks great to me!

    • Yes. It’s certainly a good additional method ๐Ÿ™‚

Hmm I am commenting on the “Blogging from iPad” post but it seems the comments already here are about another post, I am confused!

Anyway, I use BlogPress from time to time and find it rather nice. I have also used Blogsy which is a bit more flashy but doesn’t always quite do what I want it to do!

    • Don’t ask me what’s happened with this post, bringing in comments from a 3 year old post! Maybe BlogPress duplicated some sort of code that Disqus links comments to. I just uploaded the original old post but the comments haven’t linked to it ๐Ÿ™
I think I like the simplicity of BlogPress so far. I’ll give Blogsy a look though.

  • Wow is right.ย  That applications worked very well.ย  The shots are awesome.ย  I heard you are having a mild winter this year from John Heald the senior cruise director for Carnival Cruise Lines.ย  After the horrible winter you had last year I’d say enjoy the mild winter this year.

    Have a terrific day.ย  Hugs to you and Mo.ย ย  ๐Ÿ™‚

    • It is mild this year, though it seems to be getting a bit colder today. We miss the frosty weather though. If we don’t get any we feel cheated ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • Looking good, Babs! Love the guitar one the best. So does this mean you’ll be blogging every day now?

    • Ha ha ha ha! I don’t THINK so Kathy ๐Ÿ˜‰ Mind you, it does mean I can do quick posts in bed, which is where things always come to mind.

  • I love these photos, Babs. Truly amazing.

And congrats, on posting to your blog from your iPad!

    I am soooooooooooooooo jealous!

  • Looks great on my computer! I’m yearning a bit of frost myself. Tired of cleaning 8 muddy paws multiple times a day x many months ๐Ÿ™‚

    • I know just how you feel. We have to watch the cats paws every time they go out too, and they don’t like us wiping them either ๐Ÿ™

  • Incredible! You would maybe not believe me if I say you that I don’t know precisely what is iPad but I can imagne more or less. :-))) But I thought, it is possible to take photos with that device, too. So, you can make shots and post immediatelly in your blog.

I like your photos very much and the first more than others: it’s so amazing! I read a medieval book now and that wall seems to me coming from the old times.

    • You’re right. It does take photos and videos too ๐Ÿ™‚

This is part of the reason we love Yorkshire so much. Everywhere you go you see their famous ‘Dry Stone Walling’. A lot of it is very old, but they still make them like that now ๐Ÿ™‚

      • ๐Ÿ˜‰ I wanted to remove my ignorance and went to see what it is, that iPod, today. A nice thing. As all Apple inventions, maybe. Imagine, it is entertaining.

I noticed in Apuglia that these “dry” walls are not high, too. If you came in our zone, the old walls are about 2,5 m high. You live in a calm place maybe.

        • I will post photos of more of these walls, when the weather brightens up a bit. They are mostly only 2 or 3 feet high. Yes, Yorkshire is a calming place ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Jay

Good to know you can still blog while on the move!!

I love the frosty photo, that’s quite magical!

    • It is good to know, I can now write posts in bed!

This is what we miss so much this year. All the lovely frost.

  • Babs, you’ve ALMOST made me want an iPad – don’t tell MikeWJ!! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love the guitar pic, and the daisy. But not the first picture. That’s not a memory to me, that my current reality! It’s been snowing since yesterday ๐Ÿ™

    • Of course you want an iPad ๐Ÿ˜‰

It’s getting jolly cold here, but no sign of any snow. Not that I want any. It’s too late now. If it can’t come for Christmas, it needn’t bother at all ๐Ÿ™‚

ย Well this is exciting! We are both learning something new. The photos are beautiful. Happy posting!

    • I imagine my iPad is far easier to learn though ๐Ÿ˜‰

  • It all looks wonderful.ย  We are having a relatively mild winter, and I love the icy picture.ย  Takes me back to last year, too.

    • What’s up with all this unnaturally mild weather for this time of year?

      • Looks like it is a continuation of last year’s freaky weather.

  • Beautiful!ย  Is that a Telecaster?

    • Would you believe, I don’t remember? It was a gift from Mo, so many years ago that I’ve forgotten. It’s all packed away now, sadly, as I don’t play it any more.
