My Ice Castle

I’m taking part in 30 Days of Writing, started by Nicky and Mike of We Work For Cheese. For a list of who’s taking part just visit their blog and check the list of links at the bottom.  Today’s prompt is ‘Side of the road’.

If you have been following these posts, you will remember the post I wrote about the worst Christmas ever.  This was the same year.  Once the ice and snow had melted enough to drive we grabbed the chance to get out.  The photo below shows what we found at the side of the road. I’ve never seen anything quite this magnificent before.

It just shows what road splash can do if it’s cold enough.

The photo doesn’t do it justice. It was quite beautiful and I called it the ice castle.  This actual photo made it on to our local news. We were watching the news and the photo came on. I was just about to say to Mo, “Someone else found my ice castle”, when they announced my name and I realized it was my photo. My moment of fame.

Cool. In the late 90s our area had a winter ice storm that a bent all the trees. But what provided beauty soon turned to carnage as many of the trees were broken from the a weight of the ice and had to be cut down. Sad.

Wow! How beautiful! And you found it 🙂
    Hugs from Ohio,

    • To be honest with you, my sister found it first and told us which road to drive down 🙂

Does the car in the pic accurately provide a size reference for the size of this ice castle? I would love a huge pic to put on my wall.Glad you could share with others in your area. and now us! Beautiful.
