Naked in the high street!

Mo and I were on our way home the other day and as we drove down the high street, Mo said she wanted something from a shop.  She pulled up, got out of the car and disappeared into the shop.  My sister was in the car with me and suddenly said, “What’s going on there?”  I turned to look and was totally amazed at what unfolded.

A young mother, probably in her twenties, was inside a fish & chip shop with the door open. She was removing the clothing from her daughter.  The little girl was about six years old (possibly seven) and was wearing a kind of dance outfit. She removed everything, including her shoes. She was stark naked! The little girl then calmly walked out of the shop and onto the busy high street. She stopped in front of the shop windows and spread her legs.

“What on earth is she doing? Why has her mother stripped her naked?”

It didn’t take long for us to see that she was actually standing and peeing!  When she was finished, she walked calmly back into the shop, leaving behind a huge pool on the pavement and her mother put her clothes back on her.  It seemed to us, that she had done this before. She showed no inhibitions at all, and that was the scary part. She was quite relaxed about being naked in front of a lot of strangers and on a main shopping street.

I had my iPhone handy, but there was no way I wanted to be arrested as a paedophile by taking a photo. I don’t think “It was for a blog post” would have sufficed as an excuse.

We sat, with our mouths open, in total disbelief!  Why didn’t the mother ask to use the shops loo, if it was that urgent? Was she not concerned at all for her child’s safety?  Did she think it was acceptable to pee all over the pavement and right outside a food shop? Could she not have come out and helped her daughter to do it discreetly somewhere, away from the shop front?

What chance have the next generation got with parenting skills like that?

  • Ivanhoe

Disgusting! Mother and daughter! I can not believe that… I would not sell her a thing if I was the shop owner.
Have a great week, Babs! 🙂

    • Sadly, the little girls doesn’t stand much of a chance in life, if her mother teaches her that sort of behaviour.

  • Was that a stunt of some sort. And inside a restaurant ?!

    • No Stunt, just a very bad mother, with no idea of what behaviour is right or wrong.

  • Ron

OMG…I’m sitting here with my mouth open in TOTAL disbelief about the mother after reading this.

    I’m in SHOCK, Babs!?!

As you shared, this sounds like something she had done before, due to her inhibition.

    Unbelievable.

“What chance have the next generation got with parenting skills like that?”

    Exactly.

Have a great Monday, my friend!

    X to you and Mo!

    • This was exactly how my sister and I sat. In utter disbelief! I really wanted to take a photo of it, but I didn’t dare!

  • Wendy

Oh my. I have seen many upsetting parenting skills but….
It more sounds like the mother has more than poor parenting skills.
It makes me ache for this little girl. And wonder, what would I have done, could one do, if we see this in the future? I hate interfering with other parents but ,sometimes, there is a line.

    • You’re right. I worry for the life of that little girl. Unfortunately, saying something usually brings either a mouthful of abuse, or a blank look that says they will ignore what you say anyway. Reporting her to Social Services child care would be the correct thing, but you have to know where the person lives for that.

What parenting skills. This poor excuse for a mother doesn’t have any parenting skills. None whatsoever. Good God help us all.

    Have a terrific day. 🙂

    • Exactly! It was probably her mother before her and (hers before her) that taught her nothing.

  • Um… that’s TOTALLY off the wall! What mother lets her kid go STARK naked and PEE in front of a lot of strangers and on a main shopping street?!! Uncool!

    • The whole incident was a shock to us, but the part that shocked us the most was the naked part.

  • Looks like we’re officially in the Dark Ages. Again

I have heard from friends that travelled a lot that in India this is quite comon. Both men and women, young, adults or old, will simply “spread and dump”. Incredibly disgusting to us, but nothing but normal to them. Were that lady and her little girl perhaps foreigners? I do not blame the girl, poor thing! She does what her mother teaches her to do. It is sad though. And quite nasty. We already beg people to watch where their dogs go; and depending what it is pick it up and get rid of it. From now on you must watch out… the puddle may not be from rain water! xoxo

    • No, they were as British as I am and she was dressed very nicely. Nothing about her would tell you that she would do such a thing. I pity the little girl, as she will grow up thinking that sort of behaviour is acceptable.

  • My gob is smacked! I have boys (BOYS!!) and I would never let them just pee anywhere when they were little – AND they didn’t have to remove any clothing to do so!! I can’t even imagine what she was thinking…

    • Our gobs were smacked, I can tell you!

I’ve seen little girls being held over the curb by mum, clothed – acceptable. I’ve seen little boys being shielded by mum, in a corner somewhere – acceptable.
But to strip a girl naked and let her walk out into the street on her own to do it? Totally wrong.

  • P.J.

Oh my lord. That is downright nasty. Talk about having no morals. Heck with taking a photo, I think I would have said something. That’s just wrong in so many different ways.

    • I think if I had been out there I might have said something, but the mother was inside the shop and I was sitting in a parked car. It was all over before we came out of our state of shock!

  • My mouth is hanging open. Uh, whoa. I’m actually speechless here. That’s NUTS!

    • Nice to see you back cardiogirl!

Yes we sat with our mouths hanging open too. I’ve never seen anything like it.

  • I wouldn’t let my dog pee on the sidewalk. That’s awful on so many levels and is the epitome of disrespect.

    • Isn’t it just? To say nothing of her letting her little girl go out naked on the street – on her own!

      • It seemed that the woman thought it through, took her time to undress the little girl and then let her run out onto the street – in front of someone’s business – to do her business. *shaking head*

  • OMG! I can’t believe that!!! That mother is an idiot!

    • It was a real shock to us! I expect her mother didn’t teach her much of anything either.

  • Jay of The Depp Effect

Good heavens above. What WAS she thinking?

Yeah, not only is she a part of the ‘it’s never our fault if something bad happens, it’s up to everyone else to control themselves’ society which is ruining our country, but good grief! How disgusting, messy, and lacking in all kinds of moral and social discipline! It’s all of a piece with the sociopaths who leave their babies’ dirty nappies in the carparks everywhere these days, and just throw litter down wherever they happen to be.

The sad thing is that if her daughter becomes a victim of crime, the mother will not even recognise her contribution. And the daughter is all set to grow up with the same lack of values as her Mum. Sad, sad, sad.

    • I couldn’t have said it better Jay! I despair at how people in general are totally lacking in any of life’s skills and have no respect for other people at all.

  • Shawn @ StubbornFool.com

I may just try that the next time a shop owner doesn’t let me use the facilities.

  • OH MY GOSH! I can’t believe that! Funny, I saw a dad take his little boy to a sand dune today to pee in public… but at least he kind of shielded him. Teaching your kids to pee in public.. ugh. That mother should be ARRESTED … at least to scare her. That child could be kidnapped… sexually molested… just horrible!

    • I’ve seen people helping their toddlers to go somewhere in the past, but this was a completely different ball game! So bad in every way.

  • Liudmila

There are different kinds of parents… “If we will be lucky, the daughter will be able to feed her father…” forgot the title… Maybe, it’s the case.

    • It would be nice to think so, but all too often it isn’t the case.
