30 days of Photographs IV: Transparent

Day 20 –Β  Transparent

30 days of Photographs is hosted by MikeWJ and Ziva.

As most of my photographs were taken at the butterfly farm, I thought it only right that I post a photo of the ONLY butterfly I managed to photograph. You really need to click the photo for an enlargement, so you can see all the tiny, transparent water droplets.

I was very pleased with this photo. It made up for the fact that no other butterflies actually stayed still for more than a millisecond, for me to take photos. At least I got one. I think he was taking a shower.

  • So beautiful, Babs! The butterfly AND the water droplets. I’d say it’s because you have an awesome camera, but you don’t get this kind of picture unless you have an expert behind the lens. Fantastic!

    • Thank you Kathy πŸ™‚ The camera does help, though I have also taken some rubbish photos with it.

  • Holy crappy-dap – That is amazing! Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

  • Another great pic of that same Butterfly. That thing really gets around.

    • It does. It was so worn out and hot after the long journey, it needed the shower.

  • I can’t believe that beautiful butterfly allowed the water to bead up along its entire body. Simply amazing. Great photo, Babs.

    • It was obviously enjoying the water spray, as was my camera πŸ˜‰

  • Oh Babs, that is so beautiful. What an exquisite photo. I love butterflies, but they are indeed hard to get a good picture of. That was a good capture of the tiny water beads.

    • Thanks Linda. It was the only one that stayed still long enough for me πŸ™‚

  • What a great shot. Fabulous in fact. You used the prompt well with this.

Have a terrific day. Big hugs to you both. πŸ™‚

  • That’s an incredible picture. Iy makes me wonder where butterflies go when it rains? This one obviously stayed out and got wet.

    • I think they might avoid the heavy raindrops, but they loved this fine spray πŸ™‚

  • ReformingGeek

    Wow. Nice job!

  • I absolutely love this photo, Babs! The water drops are amazing!

    • It was very fortunate for me that this one actually stayed still!

  • Oh, Babs!! This is truly stunning and absolutely beautiful!!

    • Thank you Meleah πŸ™‚ I was happy it settled there.

  • What a lovely creature and photo!

  • Spectacular! I’m using a lot of adjectives today. I love the rain and water beading on the butterfly’s antennae. Also the spider’s web.

    • I’m glad I didn’t see the spider that made the web πŸ˜‰

That’s the best butterfly photograph I’ve ever seen and yes, I’ve seen many, many, many of them. I’ve never seen one wet before, and I’m glad you suggested enlarging it. It’s wonderfully composed, perfectly lit, and compelling because of the droplets. I think it’s your best photo of the challenge so far, although some of the shots of Mo are pretty damn funny.

    • Thank you, Mike. I must admit to being pleased with it myself πŸ™‚

  • I vote this as photo of the day.

  • Ron

“I was very pleased with this photo.”

And you should be, Babs, because it’s an OUTSTANDING photo capture….WOW!

    Honestly, it’s truly stunning!

And the water droplets are AMAZING!

    *clapping*

    Well done. WELL done!

    X to you and Mo!

  • I AM STUNNED. STUNNED STUNNED STUNNED. I have never EVER seen a photo like that EVER….. amazing!

    • I think it will be a ‘one off’ for me, but I will go again next year and see what I can capture πŸ™‚

  • You should be proud of that shot. It’s magnificent.

    • Thank you Cheryl. There was a lot of luck involved too.

  • That is absolutely gorgeous, Babs! Love it!

  • That is truly a great photo. That thing is majestic.

  • Jackal

    Gorgeous ! 10/10

  • That is one fantastic image. Nice!
