Butterflies

posted by Babs on Saturday, 20 February 2010

Most of you know that I lost my niece, Sindie, shortly before Christmas.  This post is especially for Livvie, Sindie’s fourteen year old daughter.  She’ll probably say this photo isn’t ‘cool’ enough, but I like it.
Livvie

This is a video she made for her mum, using a selection of photos that hold a special place in her heart.  It includes a song she wrote, and sang to her mum just before she passed.  I have posted the lyrics below in case the words are not too clear on the video.

Livvie wants as many people to see this video as possible, so I thought I’d do my bit for her, and share it with all my blogging friends.

Butterflies

The wind upon the hills,
On that lonely day
It shone down the spirit of your soul.

And the children down the valley,
On that lonely day
They brought the sun down to shine on you.

And all the creatures in the grass,
And all the butterflies
They brought the sun down to shine on you.

All the clouds over-head,
They hung their heads heavy
They hadn’t got much sun that day.

And rainbows covered the skies,
As the rain fell
Because everybody brought the sun to shine on you.

Because you are my sun,
And to everyone else. (x2)

And the gates of heaven will open,
When they see the sun come.
And everyone will smile, when they see you come.

You’ll sure get some love that day.

And the children down the valley,
On that lonely day
They brought the sun down to shine on you.

And all the creatures in the grass,
And all the butterflies
They brought the sun down to shine on you.

Because you are my sun,
And to everyone else. X2

The wind upon the hills,
They all weep your name,
Because their lives are pretty cold without the sun!

Can’t you see
That you are my sun? (x2)

And all of my earlier photos,
Can illustrate,
The sunshine you brought me,
And the rest of your family.

Without you and your heart,
I wouldn’t have lived,
I thank you for loving me,
Because I love you too.

Because you are my sun,
And no one,
Can take that
Away from me.

Wow. I’m a complete mess now. It must be so hard for Sindie’s kids especially.

I think this song you wrote and sang Livvie came from deep in your heart inspired by all the years of love and care Mum gave you. The photos are great and Livvie you are too, Mum would be so proud of you. I love you and wish you lots of sunshine. Auntie T xxx

Babs thank you for sharing this with us all and making it possible to listen to those beautiful words (hopefully one day with out tears) and look at those wonderful photos as often as we wish. I shall pass this link on. Sis x

I don’t know how you managed to sing that so beautifully Livvie without breaking down, as I and all who hear it do. I don’t know what to say, it’s all been said before. But you are the sweetest person ever, so please don’t let life change you. You are also a living memorial to your Mummy and a great strength to your Daddy and sister. Keep smiling that lovely smile and staring up at the sky.

Oh, my goodness. What a sweetheart she is. All I could think of was how cherished her mother must have felt when she heard that. I imagine that she felt supported to the last, and perhaps it eased her passing too.

You must be proud, Babs, as must everyone who knows that young lady.

Oh Lovely Livvie, what a touching and beautiful video. Life must be hard for you, Emily and daddy at times, but I am sure that mummy is watching over you and giving you all the strength you need when you need it most, and of course you know how proud she is of you as are we all.
    Love Auntie Gill xxxx

Babs, Thank you for this, although very upsetting now, it is lovely and something we can all treasure. It somehow brings the photos we have to life :O)

Thank you Livvie. Those words are so beautiful, and the more I listen to them the more meaningful they become. You are all a wonderful family with so many lovely memories of fun times. Love to you all. Sindie will never be forgotten. xx

The photo is very nice. And the smile of Livvie remembers her mom. It’s hard to accept that the life has it’s end too… But the photos have their great part to make us feel our loved once with us. And to accept.
Hope, you all feel better together with us, our friends.

Oh, Babs, that’s so beautiful. What a lovely girl Livvie is — in that photo (LOVE her haircut) and her song. Poor, sweet girl. It’s small comfort, but she — and you — will always have wonderful memories.

Isn’t it lucky that we have the technology to do something like this? Nothing beats a good ol’ scrapbook, but to be able to share this video and beautiful song with friends and family — and the world! I hope it brings you and Livvie and your family some comfort.

thank you all for yor lovely and supportive comments; and thank you Auntie Babs for making this for me. Yes, life is very different without mum around, but I’m looking after dad and I think my sister, Emily finds comfort in her adorable and rather geeky little boyfriend but she comes to me and dad for love and cuddles when she feels she needs it. I wrote this song exactly a month before Sindie, my mum died. 15th September. I sang it 4 days after she died, because I managed to drag myself into school to perform it to my music group. I crack up in places, especially towards the middle, but oh well; I tried my best. I don’t actually cry when I think of mum, it’s strange. I can only smile at the times she made me laugh till snot came out my ears. She truely was one in six billion, and it my heart forever.

and daddy, you can cry with me any time. I love you.

Livvie is such a pretty young lady and so talented. How proud Sindie must have been of her.

(And Livvie, I just read your comment above. I’m happy to read there are more smiles than tears. I suspect that’s exactly how your mum would want it. God bless you, your dad and sister).

Beautiful comment Livvie, thank you for sharing that.

When I was watching the video and listening to your song my wife came into the room and asked me what I was doing. So I told her about you and your mom and replayed it. Then we both stood there in silence with tears in our eyes. You are a talented poet and that was a beautiful song.
