“Tea’s ready!”
There was the usual rush to the table.  These were the days when the whole family sat around a table to eat every meal.  It was unheard of to eat a meal while sitting on a sofa.  Not even a tea time sandwich. It just wasn’t done.
We had a large wooden table. Large [...]

I expect most of you remember this post.

I have Closed Angle Glaucoma and I go for regular check ups at the hospital so they can keep an eye on my pressure. I went today.  Well it may not be today by the time I post this, but never mind.
I have been getting a bit of [...]

I still have nothing interesting or funny to write a post about.  Why is life so boring at the moment?  I think I need to think out of the box, and come up with something a little different.  But until I do…..
Remember the painting by blackmail post?
As some of you asked me to post a [...]

As I seem to have writers block at the moment I decided a re-post was in order.  I first posted this three years ago and had totally forgotten it, so it made interesting reading for me too.
My nightmare
I was staying at a camp site with lots of strangers (as you do). I needed to go [...]

The days we wore rag boots.

We always looked forward to the days we would get to wear our rag boots.
Dad would tear up old sheets, or any fabric mum could find that had seen it’s best days.  When he had enough large squares and strips of fabric he’d say “Who’s first?”  My sisters and I would crowd around him and [...]

Garden conversations and Grey cells

We have been doing a bit of gardening, and as we’re old fogies, and it was rather warm, we had a few tea breaks.
These are some of the conversations that took place during our breaks.
Tea-break #1
Mo:  (whispers) “Did you hear me?”
Me:  “Yes”
Mo:  (still whispering) “What did I say?”
Me:  (Stupid question) “Did you hear me”
Mo:  [...]

Mo has a real habit of stating the obvious when you ask her a question.  She answers questions literally, and it can be quite annoying at times.  Other times, unintentionally funny.  This conversation is a prime example of what I have to put up with every time I ask her a question about something.
Mo: “I’d [...]

Is this remotely funny?

I was busy reading and commenting on blogs the other evening and noticed an awful quality sound coming from the TV.  It sounded like it was coming out of a tin can.
“What setting have you got the sound on?”  I asked Mo.
“It’s coming from the TV.  I’m not listening to it through the sound system” [...]

Didn’t she do well?

We did it!

There’s not a single cable to be seen in our corner!
Do you want to know how we solved the problem? Well you’ll have to click here to read and see what a clever girl Mo is. Or you can click the DIY button on the right.  Either way you’ll get there.

The other day, Mo and I were having a good old moan at the change in the weather.  It got down to zero degrees the other night!  I ask you, what’s with this sudden cold weather in May? It’s almost the holiday season.
“So much for Clible Warmit!” Mo said, before collapsing in a heap of [...]
