I was cleaning the kitchen shelves and as started to remove bits a memory came flooding back to me, and I smiled.  I thought I’d share it with you all.

This little coffee set belonged to mum.  When she died my sisters and I chose some of her belongings as keepsakes. The coffee set probably held [...]

How I named my blog

This is a little fun task created by Ruth of synch-ro-ni-zing She is interested in how people came up with the name for their blog.   Quite a few bloggers will be posting their story today – 1.12.09.  I guess I could be one of the first to post as I’m UK time.  Anyway, here’s my [...]

My mum and dad loved their garden.  They tended it lovingly, planting all sorts of flowers and shrubs, including some lovely daisies that were mums pride and joy.  She loved them and they grew in abundance.
This photo was taken on August 4th 1984.  It was mums last birthday and we organized a garden party, inviting [...]

Do you remember Carol from my Oh Carol post?  Well I was sorting through some old photos today and look what I found.
Yes that is a toilet roll on the wall.  We were clowning around, as we did in those days.  Well, we didn’t want to do a boring thing like work now did we?

Going back in Time. Final part – Love is

Life was good for Sidney and Jeanette.  Sidney now worked as a restoration artist, restoring the murals and paintings in the castles around England and Wales.  It was a very high quality job and Sidney deserved it.  He had worked hard in the decorating trade all his life, climbing ladders all day with his painful, [...]

During all the trauma of the accident, Jeanette and Sidney also had to cope with the fact that Britain was at war.  Sidney was not called to fight as he was in a reserved [...]

Going back in time. Part 2 – The Anniversary

Sidney and Jeanette settled nicely in to married life and it wasn’t long before they had additions to their family.  Their first born, a little girl called Leeta, and five years later a son was born.  Life wasn’t easy as it was the time of ‘The Great Depression’, following the ‘Wall Street Crash’ of 1929, [...]

Going back in time – part 1

It all started many years ago, in 1915, when two little children met for the first time.
The children were just 5 years old.  They played together under a kitchen table, while the grownups did what grownups do, chatted and drank tea.  Sidney, the little boy, was in awe of his new found friend.  He had never [...]

Oh Carol! Thanks for the memories.

A little bit of background information, just to set the scene.
Back in the early to mid sixties, and before the mini-skirt hit the scene, some of the fashions were ridiculous. The skirts were just on the knee and so tight that you couldn’t walk properly.  In order to climb even the smallest step, you had [...]

A House in North London – Part3 (final)

Part 3 (final)
It wasn’t very long before our marriage finally ended.  There appeared to be no reason for this.  We didn’t argue,  and had no problems.  Money was plentiful.    There was nothing obvious to cause it to happen.  It just slowly ended.  Jim moved out and I was left with the other two, who very [...]
