Unusual Trees

posted by Babs on Saturday, 29 March 2008

Out on another walk Easter Monday, I saw three interesting trees.

This tree stump has something growing out of it that looks remarkably like stone.  I have no idea what it is.

The next tree looked very imposing against the sky.

The third tree is a deep orange colour.  I have never seen one this colour before and have no idea what tree it is.

Snow photos?

posted by Babs on Wednesday, 26 March 2008

We had snow on Easter Sunday so we went out, after church, to take a few photos.  By the time we did it was almost gone!  Here are a few of the photos I took.  We haven’t had any real snow for a couple of years now.

The view from the car window, just to show how little snow there was.

Notice the snow up the side of the trees.  It was the same everywhere and shows which way the wind was blowing – and how windy it was!

Another sign that spring is well on the way.

And these tiny little daffodils littered the side of the roads.  They are so pretty :O)

A Mother’s Rose

posted by Babs on Friday, 21 March 2008

This rose is from a bush bought in memory of my mother.  It has the strongest, most beautiful scent, that befits the lady that she was.

After the Floods

posted by Babs on Thursday, 20 March 2008

Last year we had some terrible floods here in Yorkshire.  At the time you obviously couldn’t drive anywhere.  After the roads had cleared somewhat, we ventured out to the reservoir (where I took my iPhone shots in a previous post)  I have never seen the water this high before.  I took these shots for my niece as she was in hospital at the time and this is one of her favourite spots.  The floods caused terrible damage everywhere but just added to the beauty of the reservoir, with the sound of running water.

These steps have always been dry on previous visits.

The plants below are usually on dry ground!

Snow Scenes

A few snow scenes I took a couple of years ago.  We don’t get much snow any more so we have to make the most of it :O)

Beautiful Sunset

posted by Babs on Monday, 17 March 2008

Whilst we were out this afternoon, we decided to go for a walk.  I wish I’d had my camera with me but thank goodness for mobile phones.  These shots are from my iPhone – not bad considering.

Now the photos below are what I am really pleased with, particularly as I was taking them ‘blind’ so to speak.  The sun was shining straight into my eyes so I just had to aim and snap and hope I was getting it.

Not bad for a mobile phone eh?
