Ruby Tuesday – The Rose

Here it is, in all it’s glory! I have posted several photos this time.

The second bud bursts out after some heavy rain.
My feet got soaked walking on our waterlogged garden, but I didn’t care, I didn’t want to miss this one!

Day one.

Day two.

I decided to cut the rose and bring it in. The weather was not good, and I wanted the lovely smell indoors :O)

Day three. For some reason, I just couldn’t get the focus right on the last couple of days. Probably not enough light. I can’t wait to get a DSLR camera, so I can see what I’m taking properly.

Day four. Also, the rose is not as light in colour as it looks here. The first few shots show the correct colour.

Now I shall have to come up with something else for next weeks Ruby Tuesday ;O)

I feel cheated! Just two days after me taking the photo of the rose bud, I went to check it’s progress and this is what I found! Totally opened and past it’s best. It is still beautiful but I was so disappointed.

I have some consolation though, I found another bud :O)

I decided to post this rose each week until it is in full bloom. I wait expectantly every year for this. We only ever get two, maybe three buds a year, and there is nothing like the first bloom!

It’s been a bit of a hectic week, so I wasn’t able to take any photos.
This is a photo I took last year, of one of our roses. It’s a rose bush that has moved house with us three times, and still survives!
