Sepia Scenes – Farmhouse

sepiascenes

I took this photo on New Years day.  It was a really frosty day, with a little mist, so we went out to get some photos.  I took the photo of this farmhouse especially for Sepia Scenes.

I played around with filters in Photoshop to get this effect so I posted the original photo for you to see the actual view.

I know you’ll forgive me!

posted by Babs on Friday, 2 January 2009

I know I have been a bit slack lately regarding my posting.  The Christmas holiday has kept me very busy with other stuff and I missed my ‘Sepia’ shot again this week.  I think I will be forgiven when you see what I have been busy doing.   I got my new camera for Christmas and we have had the most glorious frosty weather, so today Mo and I went out so I could take photos with my new camera.

We went to one of our favourite spots and what we saw took our breath away!  Unlike snow, that leaves a covering of white over everything, frost makes everything white all over.  There was also a light fog which just made everything look really lovely.  Just look at these photos.

When we first arrived it was very weird and I was disorientated.  It took me a while to see things as they really were.

Frosty day 1

The little black square that looks like it’s floating in air, in the photo above, is the water level marker.  As I got closer and changed my view, it became clearer and I was in total awe.  The water was so still it looked like glass.

FrostyDay 3

I can’t believe that these photos just came straight off my camera, and I didn’t need to even open Photoshop!  I took a lot more photos that I will be posting at some time.

I think I am pleased with my new camera :O)

SkyWatch Friday + I got an Award!

posted by Babs on Friday, 5 December 2008

Lately I have been posting photos that I took on a walk we took a few weeks ago.  These photos were also taken on that walk.  I took about 150 photos that day, so there are plenty more left.

I loved these very tall trees.  They looked beautiful against the blue sky.

I was given this lovely ‘Super Sweet Shots Award’ by Paz’s New York Minute

Thank you so much Paz and I’m sorry it took so long to post.  It was a lovely surprise!

Sepia Scenes

posted by Babs on Wednesday, 3 December 2008

This is a photo taken a few years ago, when we had a lovely snow fall.  I turned it sepia using ‘Colour Variations’ in Photoshop, until I got the desired colour.  I then burnt it out a bit to make it look old and faded, using ‘Level’ and altering the highlight slider (on the right) to bleach out the snow colour.  added a layer and brushed on the outer shaded bits.  Once I was satisfied, I ‘flattened’ the image.

If you click my ‘Snow’ category link, you will see the original photo, that Mo took.

I am posting three different versions of this song – one on each of my blogs.

One here and the other here.  They are all lovely.

John Lennon – Imagine

Here is a photo that I think shows peace of one sort. A peaceful walk in the woods.

Sepia Scenes

This is my contribution to the new photographic theme ‘Sepia Scenes’ I took this in the summer and used it for a SkyWatch photo.  I tried to make it look a bit old too.

SkyWatch Friday

posted by Babs on Thursday, 16 October 2008

As promised, these are a few shots taken on our day out last Sunday.  I thought the first one was very fitting for SkyWatch.  This is the same reservoir that I have photographed before, but from a different angle. I loved the way the sunlight was twinkling on the water. This certainly is a beautiful time of the year.

There will be more shots from this walk coming  very soon.
