It’s been a while

posted by Babs on Thursday, 19 March 2009

I know it’s been a while since I posted here, but I will try to post more often.

I went out today as it was a lovely warm day.  At least it was for us in the UK.  These are a few photos I took of the ducks.  I was amazed that they let me go right up close and photograph them.  Well, not those in the water  :O)

I know you’ll forgive me!

posted by Babs on Friday, 2 January 2009

I know I have been a bit slack lately regarding my posting.  The Christmas holiday has kept me very busy with other stuff and I missed my ‘Sepia’ shot again this week.  I think I will be forgiven when you see what I have been busy doing.   I got my new camera for Christmas and we have had the most glorious frosty weather, so today Mo and I went out so I could take photos with my new camera.

We went to one of our favourite spots and what we saw took our breath away!  Unlike snow, that leaves a covering of white over everything, frost makes everything white all over.  There was also a light fog which just made everything look really lovely.  Just look at these photos.

When we first arrived it was very weird and I was disorientated.  It took me a while to see things as they really were.

Frosty day 1

The little black square that looks like it’s floating in air, in the photo above, is the water level marker.  As I got closer and changed my view, it became clearer and I was in total awe.  The water was so still it looked like glass.

FrostyDay 3

I can’t believe that these photos just came straight off my camera, and I didn’t need to even open Photoshop!  I took a lot more photos that I will be posting at some time.

I think I am pleased with my new camera :O)

SkyWatch Friday

posted by Babs on Thursday, 16 October 2008

As promised, these are a few shots taken on our day out last Sunday.  I thought the first one was very fitting for SkyWatch.  This is the same reservoir that I have photographed before, but from a different angle. I loved the way the sunlight was twinkling on the water. This certainly is a beautiful time of the year.

Click on the logo above for more SkyWatch photos

There will be more shots from this walk coming  very soon.

An autumn walk

posted by Babs on Monday, 6 October 2008

Mo and I went for a walk today, at our local reservoir.  It was a perfect day for a walk.  There was a nip in the air, yet the sun was warm.  The autumn leaves made a lovely brown carpet underfoot and people were collecting conkers and filling carrier bags.

The sun was shining on the water and sprinkling it with light.  It really was far more beautiful than my point and shoot camera managed to capture.

We took some bread to feed the ducks.  Unfortunately someone else had just fed them all, so they wouldn’t come close enough for me to get any interesting photos.

Except maybe this one.  They looked like they were leaving behind a trail of fairy glitter.

PhotoHunters – Dark

posted by Babs on Saturday, 9 August 2008

This is a macro shot of rain splashes on our windowsill, from an open window. I took this a couple of weeks ago, and altered the levels. I liked the sort of molten lead look.

I knew it would have it’s day ;O)

After the Floods

posted by Babs on Thursday, 20 March 2008

Last year we had some terrible floods here in Yorkshire.  At the time you obviously couldn’t drive anywhere.  After the roads had cleared somewhat, we ventured out to the reservoir (where I took my iPhone shots in a previous post)  I have never seen the water this high before.  I took these shots for my niece as she was in hospital at the time and this is one of her favourite spots.  The floods caused terrible damage everywhere but just added to the beauty of the reservoir, with the sound of running water.

These steps have always been dry on previous visits.
