Remember the disappearing garden?  Well now we know why.  Just look at it now.  It obviously had to be cleared before work started.

This is not just an ordinary extension our neighbour is having built.  This is a house enlargement!  The extension was built higher than the house, and yesterday Mo said.  “It looks funny.  I [...]

We were really shocked, and sad, when we looked out of our back window today.  Our next door neighbour is having an extension built on the side of his house.  It’s a corner house and he has a very large back garden, which extends around the side, so we can see that a side extension [...]

Remember our invasion of the shrooms?
They came back a couple of months ago but the weather was too hot and they shrivelled up within a day.  I was a bit disappointed because they look quite nice in the garden.  Well they’re back again!  You can’t keep a good shroom down!

Though you can’t see in the [...]

I promised you I’d get the camera next time there was an accident in our house didn’t I?  Well I am true to my word – this time.
I was sitting at my computer the other evening, and I heard a strange noise.  I didn’t take much notice as there are always strange noises coming from [...]

My mum and dad loved their garden.  They tended it lovingly, planting all sorts of flowers and shrubs, including some lovely daisies that were mums pride and joy.  She loved them and they grew in abundance.
This photo was taken on August 4th 1984.  It was mums last birthday and we organized a garden party, inviting [...]

Look what we found in our front garden!

A baby blackbird, well Mo said his mum was a blackbird, so I must assume he was also.  He was in a tree right by our window and obviously couldn’t fly.  He was chirping away and his mother was circling around and coming down to feed him.
Then his [...]

At Christmas, our neighbour hung some fairy lights on a tree at the bottom of his garden which, in effect, is also the bottom of our garden.  They are still there, flashing and blinking at us each time we look out of the window.
It’s only a couple of months, you might say.  You’d be wrong!  [...]

A House in North London – Part 2

If you haven’t already, you might want to read part 1 before reading this.
Part 2
Somehow we managed to clean the flat up and make is habitable.  Once we got our furniture in, it looked OK, though not as nice as our first flat.  We had made all our furniture to fit our previous flat and [...]

A House in North London – Part 1

Jim and I had managed to find a nice little unfurnished flat, in a very nice part of London.   We had by far, the best and most expensive flat in the large house.  We were both on good salaries so the cost was not a problem.   One problem we had was that we were continually [...]
